Filmmaking is an art. It is a creative journey through which a filmmaker usually portrays life on screen. However, the film industry is full of deadlines and if you are a filmmaker who is just starting his career, it can be difficult to get the ball rolling. Nowadays, it is necessary to have filmmaking training to get the first break in the country.


It is very necessary to get out of the rut of procrastination to do some fruitful work. Here are a few tips to get you out from the dead end of procrastination:

Start small
Once stuck in the dead end, it becomes quite difficult to get out especially if you are a creative person. The best way to get unstuck is to  is to start small. You could start with writing script at least 3 times a day or filming for a few days each week. Small wins will help you reach your goal. By starting small, your momentum will build and you’ll be able to do better. After a few days, this will become a habit.

Take example from life
It is generally taught in the  filmmaking training to take example from life. By taking an example or inspiration from life, you be able to start with something. Whether it is a simple habit of a man feeding pigeons or a snowball rolling downhill, an example for life will help you. Some days would be tough but you need to not give up.

Define your priorities
To to get the maximum out of your filmmaking training, the best thing to do is to define your priorities. Self-management will help you get your priorities straightened. This will help you form a habit of getting out of the creative rut. 

 Overcoming procrastination

  1. Understand your habit of procrastination. Each procrastinator has a behavioural loop that goes on and pushes them, in the black hole. Understand it and make it help you to avoid it.
  2. Remove that habit. Replacing that habit with something fruitful will serve your priorities. Identify it, replace it and reward yourself.
  3. Believe in yourself. Know that you have ability to change. Support your filmmaking with your habit and talk with filmmaking community.
  4. Rake up all the small wins and reward yourself.
  5. Stick to your healthy habit. Studies show that if a particular action is performed everyday at same time in the same way for 21 days, it becomes a habit and your brain automatically identifies the routine.
